About the potter:
Gassan – A ceramic artist specializing in Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware), with a long career in tableware production. He began making bonsai pots several decades ago for his own bonsai as a hobby. His work is known for its originality, combining the refined techniques of Kyo-yaki with a free-spirited approach unconstrained by traditional bonsai pot styles. His painting technique, in particular, is exceptional—deliberately restrained to avoid over-decoration, allowing the bonsai to take center stage.
