Highlights
・This is the famous “Moon Pot,” one of Gassan’s signature and most popular creations.
・The glaze alone expresses the serene scene of a moon floating over a grassy field.
・What makes this pot especially unique is that it has been repaired by a Japanese expert using Kintsugi, a traditional Japanese technique for restoring broken ceramics.
Kintsugi not only brings the pot back to life but also enhances its beauty, giving it even greater artistic value than before.

About the Potter:
Gassan is a ceramic artist specializing in Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware), with a long career in tableware production. He began making bonsai pots several decades ago for his own bonsai as a hobby. His work is known for its originality, combining the refined techniques of Kyo-yaki with a free-spirited approach unconstrained by traditional bonsai pot styles. His painting technique, in particular, is exceptional—deliberately restrained to avoid over-decoration, allowing the bonsai to take center stage.
