Feature:
・Toji is a potter born and raised in Tokoname. He is currently over 80 years old.
・All his works are fired in a wood-fired kiln.
・His style is characterized by a playful and free-spirited approach.
・Toji is a childhood friend and pottery companion of “Kosyosen"(Sadamitsu Kataoka), one of Tokoname’s leading bonsai potter. The distinctive "okama-style" pots were originally made by Sadamitsu. When he retired, he entrusted Toji with continuing their production, and since then, Toji has been creating them.
・ "okama" refers to a traditional Japanese-style pot design that resembles a kettle or cauldron.

・Toji also received a request from the late bonsai artist Tadashi Sekino to create pots with a different style from traditional designs. This led him to develop his unique approach, resulting in pots with soft shapes that harmonize with the natural curves of plants.
・For those seeing Toji’s pots for the first time, the unfamiliar style might feel unusual at first. However, his designs are the result of deep exploration and experience by experts in both bonsai artist and bonsai potter, combined with Toji’s playful creativity.
・These pots suit a variety of plants, including black pines, red pines, maples, and other deciduous trees. We encourage you to try them out!
・Due to his advanced age, he has already retired from creating and has no plans to resume.
